Why adopt a pet from Found?
Not only are you saving a life when you choose to adopt, but by adopting from Found you are helping further our rehabilitation work for a dog or cat in need of a second chance. Found is a unique rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing center that works with homeless dogs and cats to rehabilitate them based on their individual needs. Our goal is to strengthen the bond between homeless animals and their human companions. In order to do so, dogs and cats are individually assessed and put on specially designed rehabilitation programs based on their needs in order to help them with socialization, training, exercise and overall well-being. We believe this philosophy helps us find the perfect home for each animal in our care.

If a dog or cat is up for adoption, does that mean they are fully trained?
Found works with each individual animal to make sure they are ready for adoption. However, this does not mean that they will be fully trained once they are in their new home. Dogs and cats will need to adapt to their new surroundings and that comes with training. We are always here to help if you have any questions about your newly adopted pet, please contact info@foundchicago.org

What do you mean by rehabilitate?
Some dogs and cats need a little extra attention and help to get over stress or anxiety they might have. At Found, we work with each animal, assessing their needs and rehabilitating them so they can be free from stress or anxiety and ready to go to a new home. Is Found a no-kill shelter and what does that mean?
Found is a no-kill shelter meaning that the animals we rescue will not be euthanized because they have been at the shelter for an extended period of time, have a behavioral issue, because space is limited in the shelter, or because they are old. An animal will only be euthanized if it is dying and in severe pain, therefore not having a quality life.

Can I adopt a pet as a gift for someone?
Found does not allow pet adoptions as gifts. Our focus is on strengthening the human and animal bond by truly knowing who each animal is, and the home they are going to.
